The Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization is key to ensuring that GP''s 80 mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. W&FS sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional or individual landowners.
The Wood and Fiber Supply team is seeking a Procurement Forester to report into our Toledo, OR Procurement office. Reporting to the Area Manager, this person will work to build strong business relationships within their operating areas in the Toledo, OR area and will help drive process improvements and present innovative solutions to recurring issues. A strong desire to be in the forest industry is essential as this person actively represents Wood & Fiber Supply (W&FS) and the facility operations on local and regional sourcing initiatives.
Responsibilities:
o Implement strategic sourcing and pricing options pertaining to the procurement of wood and fiber for a manufacturing facility.
o Evaluate least cost sourcing and pricing opportunities using analytical and innovative problem solving skills.
o Ensure all transactions are properly documented and distributed.
o Work in conjunction with W&FS team to monitor and manage all levels of raw material costs to include:
o Administrative
o Capital employed
o Transportation
o Wood Cost
o Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
o Learn and adapt to new responsibilities outside of current knowledge base.
o Use a creative problem solving approach. Challenge the status quo, and identify and act upon opportunities for positive change.
BASIC
Qualifications:
o Bachelor''s Degree or higher in Forestry or other related discipline.
o Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
o MBA and/or MS in Finance.
o Experience effectively communicating a vision to a broad range of stakeholders.
